Discussion 13.3: Flickr
The Flickr discussion regarding sexist language was very interesting and a lot of things were brought to my attention. In the Flickr discussion I learned that people get offended easily when using sexist language and by calling people derogatory terms and names that are sexist even though it was not meant to be serious. A lot of people take sexist language words seriously even though the person saying it may not even mean it. During the overall Flickr discussion people discussed the “sexist language” that many people use. In the textbook the authors talk about how people take sexist language very personally.

Hey there!!
ReplyDeleteI know right? Well I don't know if many, but I do know for a fact that some people take sexist language personally. I really don't think they should, I think they should just go with the flow. I do think, however, that if the sexist language were to go a little too far, like lets say they talk about something personal that a man does, or a woman does, or a stereotype, then okay, I would not be surprised if that person were to tell the other person off. :)
People should be somewhat careful with what they say, especially to the opposite gender I suppose.
