Discussion Week 5.1: Audience Analysis and Adaptation
Audience analysis and audience adaptation is important in the speech development process. By utilizing these tools as a speaker we can better adapt to our audience. By using audience analysis we can figure out who the audience will be, what kinds of things appeal to them, and what things are important to them. Audience adaptation is important to keep the audience interested and also so an individual can adapt a speech to the audience. After completing audience analysis it will be easier to find a way to entertain the audience and also to inform them or talk to them about something. I will use audience analysis in my speech by adapting and entertaining my audience. By knowing my audience more I will be able to carry out my message more successfully by knowing what interest them.

I have always found it hard to stare at the audience and pay attention to what they were doing while I was speaking because I never wanted to see the boring looks on their faces. Although I have done this in the past, for this project I am going to try my best to pay attention to what the audience is doing and read their facial expressions. I will also be trying to entertain my audience in order to keep them interested in my speech. What kind of tactics will you be using in order to keep the audience entertained?
ReplyDeleteHi KiwiMango,
ReplyDeleteI wonder what ways you will interest the audiences and I hope it's an interesting one. Also although the concept seems easy, I think that it will be hard to apply it as people present or...as I present because since I get nervous easily, I might stutter and miss my chance of showing entertainment to the crowd. Then again, I just wonder how you would do it.
Although I finally understand the concept of Audience Analysis and Adaptation; however, I find it hard to follow through. At times, when a lot of the people in the Audience appear to be uninterested, it causes the speaker to feel uncomfortable and distant. KiwiMango have you ever been put in this situation, or what have you done in the past to succumb these feelings? Contrary, I think the idea of Audience Analysis is helpful in the sense, that once you get a feel for you audience’s demographics, you can interpret some interests and try to appeal to some of them.
